My love for visual storytelling began early. Before I started working as a lighting technician, I was already making small videos with my friends. I loved conveying emotions and telling stories with small edits of homemade footage. The magic of capturing moments and evoking emotions through visuals captivated me.

 

During my all-round audiovisual education, I discovered the field of lighting. I learned that there was a profession where you could influence the color, contrast, and depth of images, and thus determine the mood. I found this incredible. The ability to play with light and direct the visual experience of a scene felt like creating a painting, with the lights as my brushes. I knew, when I first stepped on set as a lighting intern, that this was something I enjoyed the most, and I began to further educate myself in this fascinating field.

Now, five years later, I work with passion as a starting Gaffer in the film industry. Every day I learn something new, which keeps my work exciting and challenging. The ability to fill each space anew with an atmosphere I create makes me feel like that child again, filled with wonder. My journey in the world of lighting is one of continuous discovery and growth. It remains a privilege to work with light and help tell stories in a visually compelling way.
